Pixel Fortress strips modern tower defense back to its fundamentals, then rebuilds it with an obsessive level of strategic granularity. Each of the 40 tower types has a branching upgrade tree with three divergent paths. Enemy waves are intelligently generated based on your current build, meaning no two playthroughs evolve the same way. The pixel art visual language is deliberate — every frame was drawn by hand at 16×16 before scaling, preserving the tactile feel of classic handhelds while running at buttery 60fps on modern devices.
